Dear Parents,
Happy New Year.
Please find below a Timetable for this term.
This term we have
two extra activities:
Division Thinking
Day on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd February in Kineton Church and
the Gang Show in Leamington Spa on the afternoon of Saturday 7th March.
Please put the dates in your diary. There will be a cost of
approximately £5.00 per Brownie for the Gang Show. More details to
follow.
This term the
Brownies will be learning about The Right to Learn (from the resource
‘Right Now’ for Guiding about Human Rights) and Aim Hi (Girlguiding
UK’s Healthy Individual campaign resource), and gaining the Brownie
Skills Interest Badge.
On Tuesday 17
March, we invite Mums to join us for an evening of fun.
Fees this term
are £20, cash or cheque made payable to 1st Temple Herdewyke Brownies.
This term we pay the annual subscription to Girlguiding UK, which this
year is set at £16 per Brownie and adult member. We use your termly
fees to cover this as well as resources for our craft activities, badges,
refreshments etc. All adult helpers in Guiding are volunteers and
give their time freely.
Centenary
In September 2009
Girlguiding UK will launch its Centenary celebrations. There are
lots of activities being planned at Country, Region, County, Division and
District levels to take place through until October 2010.
One activity is ‘Changing the World’, a challenge to all
Units to do their best to help others. It is hoped that every
guiding unit and group will complete a community action project before
August 2009, so that we can go forward into our Centenary celebrations
knowing that we do make a difference, and that guiding can change the
world.
Girlguiding UK
has teamed up with 19 partner organisations (18 charities and Guiding
Friends Association). Each partner has created a special Changing
the World project. Last term we looked at all the projects and the
Brownies chose ‘Save the Children’. This project will involve
setting up a Save the Children Shop in our local community. We plan
to run our shop one evening during the summer term. We will start
collecting items to sell straight away so if you do have a clear out
please, please send any unwanted items into Brownies labelled Save the
Children. Thank you
